Communications Manager for Västerås City

Do you want to be part of developing Västerås city's communication work and influence how we communicate with our residents? As a communications manager, you combine strategy and creativity in a team that values collaboration, quality, and joy at work. Together, we create communication that engages, informs, and strengthens the relationship between the city and our residents!

Your Responsibilities

You will work both strategically and operationally to develop and implement communication strategies and plans that contribute to achieving the city's and administration's goals.

You will lead the daily communication work within the administration and serve as a bridge between the administration's needs and the overall planning of communication efforts and resource assessment. Together with the head of the administration and your colleagues, you will develop an annual communication plan, including resource needs and budget.

In collaboration with experts and information owners, you will develop communication strategies and plans that contribute to achieving the city's and administration's goals. You will lead larger communication projects and ensure that the plans are implemented in practice, as well as carry out, follow up, and evaluate communication activities.

You will be part of the communication process management group, where you contribute your expertise and engagement to develop the city's communication process.

This position is primarily aimed at the culture, sports, and leisure administration, and you will work closely with the administration director and management team. Since collaboration, knowledge sharing, and belonging are important parts of our working method, we work together both within the unit and on city-wide issues.

The communication area is one of seven operational areas at the city management office.

Your Qualifications

You have a university degree in media or communication science, or another education deemed equivalent. You thrive in a leadership role and have experience supporting managers and management teams. We would like you to bring your knowledge of AI, innovation, and digital development, and it is a plus if you have experience in marketing communication or communication in large, complex organizations.

You have experience in taking a broader perspective, conducting strategic communication work, and leading larger communication projects. You believe in collaboration, and one of your strengths is creating engagement and participation. You are motivated by development, driving issues forward, and easily adapt to changing circumstances.
